Native American Ministries Sunday

Native American Ministries Sunday is one of The UMC's Special Sundays. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of Easter and nurtures mission with Native Americans and provides scholarships for United Methodist Native American seminarians.

Support the Indian Child Welfare Act

Bishop Peggy A. Johnson shares the following: 
In June 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court is due to render a decision impacting the future of the Indian Child Welfare Act.
There are steps we can take to support upholding the act. 

Wear red

The NEAC supports Native American Women by encouraging United Methodists to wear red on May 5, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Native Women as well as on Indigenous Peoples Day. 

Legislation to this effect was adopted by the 2021 New England Annual Conference. Read the resolution

Indigenous Peoples Day

Local churches, the Conference and District offices are encouraged to use the term “Indigenous Peoples Day” for the second Monday of October in lieu of Columbus Day in their communications, worship services, and event planning.
