Important information about the 2020 virtual Annual Conference session

July 20, 2020

The 2020 New England Annual Conference will take place as a one-day online session on Oct. 17, 2020.

Read an updated Call to Conference from Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar.

About the session
Members should plan to reserve the entire day for the session. The session will be livestreamed on our website.
During this shortened session, we will care for the necessary business of the Annual Conference as outlined in the Book of Discipline. The Agenda Committee will set the day’s schedule.
Some events and traditions that are part of our time together at Annual Conference will simply not be able to happen in 2020.
Others have been or will be cared for in new ways; some examples: The virtual Clergy Session took place on June 11. The Laity Session will be an online event beginning at 10 a.m. on Sept. 26; watch e-news for more details. Planning for a Service of Commissioning and Ordination is in the hands of the Board of Ordained Ministry in consultation with the 2020 clergy class.
We will do our best to honor all of our important events and traditions appropriately.
This virtual Annual Conference session is free, but members must register in order to get access to the meeting and their voting credentials. Only voting members need to register; others can watch via the livestream.
Registration is open now and will be open until Sept. 30, 2020. There will be no opportunity to register after that date or during the session. Click here to register.
Legislation deadline
The deadline for submitting new and/or revised proposed 2020 legislation, reports, and agenda items is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2020
Reports and legislation should be sent to Conference Secretary John Blackadar at
Agenda items should be sent to Agenda Committee Chair Julie Waldron at
Pre-Conference Briefings/Materials
The Pre-Conference Materials will be published no later than Sept. 17, 2020; the day’s agenda will be announced at this time. A schedule of online pre-conference briefings and/or videos or other materials to help members prepare for the session will be announced. Watch the website and e-news for details.

Training for participants
GNTV, which has provided A/V support for our sessions in recent years, will manage this virtual session for us via Zoom.
Annual Conference members will be invited to join an online training session; there will be a number of sessions scheduled. Watch the AC page on our website and e news for details.
In this training members will learn about how to speak from the “floor,” vote, and how other procedures will work in this virtual session. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and practice with the online voting system.
This year’s Annual Conference will be a new experience for all of us, and we know that there will be quite a bit of learning and adapting to do. We will do our best to communicate clearly and often about what’s coming. Patience and grace will be blessings to all of us as we move forward.
