Racial Harassment Policy

The policy and procedures outlined in the Policy on Racial Harassment, adopted in 2002 and updated in 2017, are intended to ensure that the churches and other agencies of the New England Conference of The United Methodist Church have a clear understanding of the definition of racial harassment and of the fact that racial harassment, as well as other forms of harassment, are not permitted among us.

Racial harassment is illegal under state and federal law. Under our United Methodist Discipline, it is also a chargeable offense for both clergy and laity.

This policy document outlines procedures designed to improve our ability to respond effectively to complaints of this nature.
